A Mundi Waters Initiative — Abydos, Egypt

The Osirion Project.
Preserving a living legacy.

I — Stewardship

§ 01 — The Project

An international conservation and preservation initiative dedicated to the Osirion at Abydos — one of Egypt's most extraordinary and enigmatic sacred monuments.

Led by Mundi Waters in collaboration with Egyptian authorities, local experts, conservators and international supporters, the project was born from a simple yet powerful intention: to help safeguard a unique part of humanity's shared heritage for future generations.

§ 02 — Phase One · 2022

Cleaning, conservation, and recovery of the inaccessible.

In 2022, the first phase of the project successfully carried out extensive cleaning and conservation work within the monument. Decades of accumulated debris, mud, biological contamination and displaced stone blocks were removed, allowing previously inaccessible areas to be documented and assessed.

Critical conservation challenges — including structural instability, water management and salt deterioration — were identified and addressed through emergency interventions and ongoing maintenance.

§ 03 — Beyond Preservation

Understanding the Osirion's relationship with water, landscape and cultural memory.

Future phases include advanced documentation, 3D scanning, conservation research and educational initiatives designed to make the monument more accessible to scholars, visitors and future generations.

"More than a restoration effort — an invitation to participate in the stewardship of a remarkable cultural legacy."
